This update outlines the progress made on the community priorities set for your area by the Local Policing Inspector Craig in collaboration with the Safer Neighbourhood Supervisors, Sgt Adams and PCSO Supervisor Wallington-Waite and Partners. Community priorities are reviewed and set on a quarterly basis, guiding the focus of the Safer Neighbourhood Team’s activity, in this update, you’ll find: • A summary of the previous priorities • The actions taken and outcomes achieved • The new priorities for the upcoming quarter
New priorities are determined by analysing local crime trends and incorporating feedback from you, the community, through engagement events, surveys and direct contact.
The previous priorities for the Mercia area were: 1) Road Safety 2) Non‑dwelling (outbuilding) thefts
Action Taken and Outcomes: For Road Safety: We Conducted high‑visibility patrols in known hotspot areas and continue working with local Community Speed Watch groups including attending the successful CSW ‘out all day ‘event which took place in Smisby, Bretby, Ticknall, Milton, Newton Solney, Willington, Findern and Repton who all have active groups. We work with the community, partners and local councillors to gather information and intelligence, feedback and provide updates via social media and Derbyshire alert. We have presented a Road safety talk at Findern Parish council meeting. We have We have taken proactive enforcement action to those committing offences including the following results since the priority started- A vehicle was seized and driver reported to court for no licence, a driver has been arrested for driving over the legal limit, 2 arrests were made for possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs following a vehicle stop and search in Ticknall and a driver dealt with for cannabis possession after being located on Arleston Lane.
Non‑dwelling (outbuilding) thefts: we have conducted high‑visibility and plain‑clothes patrols in hotspot areas. Shared crime‑prevention advice through social media, community events and Derbyshire Alert, raising awareness of current issues and Promoted security measures such as tool‑marking, steering locks and CCTV. We have worked with partners including local authorities, bordering police forces and national policing teams to share intelligence and prevent offending and to conduct joint burglary and auto crime patrols during which 3 persons were located and stop searched in Repton for articles used for going equipped to steal- driver is also dealt with for traffic offences.
New priorities: Following this review, the SNT has identified the following priorities for the upcoming quarter: 1) Road Safety 2) Anti-social behaviour in known hotspot areas
For Road safety we will: Conduct high visibility patrols in known hotspot areas. Continue working with Community Speed Watch where appropriate. Work closely with the community to gather information, feedback and provide updates. Take proactive enforcement action and collaborate with Roads Policing Units where necessary.
